Mary Anning Rocks - A statue & Learning Legacy for Mary
Mary Anning Rocks - A statue & Learning Legacy for Mary: Next month on the 21st of May, local West Stafford school girl Evie Swire will be celebrating the 221st birthday of her hero, the Victorian palaeontologist Mary Anning. Evie started a campaign called Mary Anning Rocks, nearly 2 years ago, after visiting Lyme Regis and was disappointed and shocked to find out this remarkable woman didn’t have a monument to commemorate her in the town. The campaign now has the patronage of Sir David Attenborough, Professor Alice Roberts and many more and Evie has also been busy filming with CBBC Newsround and the InSide Out teams from BBC South West. It would be amazing if Evie could get the support of her local community behind her too. So if you would like to learn more about the amazing Mary Anning whose discoveries became the catalyst that changed the way we think about the origins of our planet and how life evolved on it, then please check out or email us at and join our growing 'Anning Army’ - Thank you, Anya & Evie Swire.
